About Katie
I am a landscape artist with a passion for natural found abstraction and environmental illustration. I earned my BFA in Painting & Drawing, with minors in Art History and Theatre from Peck School of the Arts and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in December of 2021. I live in Wisconsin, surrounding myself with trees and nature to draw inspiration from. I have had a passion for creating for as long as I can remember, over the course of my college education I have found painting to be the best vehicle for my creative ideas.
I have shown work in UWM’s First Year Experience Exhibition, the Sophomore & Junior Scholarship show, the Crossing Over Exhibition, and the BFA Exhibitions. I have been running my small business for two years, designing stationery products and selling my artwork. I have been commissioned for album art, portraits, landscape paintings, and other products. I have freelance illustrated two children’s books, When Will Snow Come? By Terri Dougherty and I Love You, Planet by Emily Dougherty. In my future, I would like a merging of my painting practice, my small business, and my love for children’s illustration.
Right now, I spend time painting as much as I can. I have a dedicated studio time for large canvases and oil paint, as well as a time to study gouache and watercolor illustration. I also am making time to broaden my graphic design knowledge, working on digitally painting environments and using 3D modeling software.
